A second man has been charged in connection with the murder of Haseeb Bhatti in Dagenham.

Swayf Amana, 26 (01.04.98) of Barking, was arrested on Monday, 27 May and later charged with murder.

He will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 29 May.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at around 01:30hrs on Saturday, 20 April, to a 50-year-old man suffering stab injuries in Rothwell Gardens, Dagenham.

Officers attended and their initial investigations quickly led them to a second man suffering critical stab injuries in nearby Flamstead Road. Despite the efforts of emergency services, 23-year-old Haseeb Bhatti died at the scene. The family of Mr Bhatti are being supported by specialist officers.

The condition of the 50-year-old man was not life-threatening. He was discharged from hospital and arrested in connection with the investigation – he has since been released under investigation.

On Friday, 26 April, Frankie Burletson, 24, (10.02.00) of Dagenham, was charged with the murder of Haseeb Bhatti. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at the Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday, 16 July.

Three other men have been arrested and bailed in relation to the investigation.
