A man has been arrested after officers discovered a pistol and eight rounds of ammunition at an address in Buckingham Road, Edgware.
A search warrant was executed at the property as part of an ongoing operation conducted by specialist officers from the Met.
The 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He remains in custody at a police station in north west London for questioning by detectives.
This investigation comes as part of the Met’s ongoing determination to protect Londoners and ensure firearms have no place in the capital.
This has led to a record low in firearms offences in the last fifteen years across London. Last year alone (2023), 386 illegal firearms were seized across the capital – more than one a day.
Detective Inspector Andy Durham, whose team are leading the investigation, said:
“A top priority in the Met is to tackle gun crime and make London’s streets safer for our communities.
“Thanks to the diligent and dedicated work of officers, we have made an arrest and seized a dangerous weapon.
“Guns have no place on our streets and we will continue to do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice who pose the greatest risk to Londoners.”
A New Met for London
