8 July 2024 08:15 UPDATE: Renewed appeal for information following murder in Waltham Forest Detectives have today named the man who was stabbed as 33-year-old Josh McKay who was from the local area

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a man died following a stabbing in Waltham Forest.

Police were called shortly before 15:00hrs on Saturday, 6 July to reports of a man stabbed on Lea Bridge Road, E10.

Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite their efforts, he died at the scene.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, detectives have today named him as 33-year-old Josh McKay, a father of two from Waltham Forest.

His family have been informed and continue to be supported by specialist officers.

They said: “The heart of our family has stopped beating. The World is less bright without his beautiful smile.”

A special post-mortem examination is due to be held on Monday, 8 July.

On Sunday, 7 July, detectives arrested a 38-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender. She remains in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley from the Specialist Crime Command said: “Our investigation is making progress and we have now made an arrest.

“We are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries, including a review of CCTV footage, and our colleagues from the local policing team remain in the area.

“However, we still need your help. Two children have been left without a father. If you saw anything, or have information regarding the person who killed Josh, please do the right thing and call us, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
